OECD Report Praises Canadian Immigration System
In August 2019, the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD) released a “very favorable” report that praises the Canadian immigration system as one of the world’s most successful and an example for other countries. In particular, the OECD report says that Canada is very effective at recruiting skilled foreign workers, welcoming the newcomers, and helping them integrate into their new country. Additionally, the OECD notes that skilled foreign workers from around the world consider living in Canada very appealing. The Canadian immigration system also received praise for monitoring outcomes and quickly making changes to improve. The OECD report gave high marks to Canada’s Express Entry system, which fast-tracks Canadian permanent residency applications for highly-skilled foreign workers and their families.
Ahmed Hussen, the Canadian Immigration Minister, commented that immigration accounts for 80% of the population growth in Canada. He also declared, “Due to our aging population, we have to ensure that we continue to be ambitious in our immigration system.” Furthermore, he stated that Canada needs to innovate and adapt rapidly in order to continue attracting highly-skilled foreign workers. According to the Canadian Immigration Minister, the majority of people living in Canada support attracting skilled foreign workers who can fill Canadian job openings and stimulate the country’s economy. Canada has a good reputation for being one of the most immigrant-friendly countries in the world and has an official policy that promotes multiculturalism.
Express Entry to Canada was one of the improvements made to the Canadian immigration system mentioned in the 2019 OECD report. Foreign workers with good English or French language abilities who also have the education, work experience and other characteristics needed to qualify for one of the Express Entry economic immigration programs, may be able to move to Canada as permanent residents in a relatively short period of time. More than 300,000 people immigrate to Canada each year as permanent residents, mostly skilled foreign workers and their family members. The Authorized Representatives who collaborate with Canadian Visa Expert can evaluate your eligibility for Express Entry to Canada and guide you through each step of the procedure if you qualify.
