Each of the 158 countries examined received an overall score between 0 and 10 (with 0 being the lowest score and 10 being a perfect score). Canada came in fifth place on the happiness scale with an overall score of 7.427, which was not far from first place Switzerland which received a total happiness score of 7.587 from the UN researchers.
