  • Best Provinces For Immigrants to Find Jobs in Canada

One of the most important steps in the Canadian immigration process is to find work in Canada. Many people intuitively think that the best place to look for jobs in Canada is in its largest cities, such as Toronto, Montreal and Vancouver. Depending on one’s occupation, this might be the case. According to Statistics Canada, however, the top location for new immigrants ages 25-54 to secure Canadian employment is actually in the western half of the country. Specifically, people who immigrate to Canada and settle in the provinces of Manitoba, Saskatchewan and Alberta enjoy a much higher rate of Canadian employment than immigrants who move to other provinces or territories. Furthermore, immigrants who live in Manitoba, Saskatchewan and Alberta have a significantly higher rate of Canadian employment than those who move to Canada and settle in Toronto, Montreal or Vancouver.

A key reason that immigrants who live in Manitoba, Saskatchewan and Alberta enjoy higher levels of employment than immigrants residing in other parts of Canada is that these three provinces have consistently had the lowest unemployment rates in Canada over the past several years. Thus, many people who are looking for jobs in Canada find excellent employment opportunities in Manitoba, Saskatchewan and Alberta, due to the ongoing shortage of skilled workers there. Additionally, these three Canadian provinces offer a high standard of living, yet tend to have a low cost of living which many Canadian residents find attractive. Therefore, if you want to live in Canada, you might want to consider moving to Manitoba, Saskatchewan or Alberta where there is a high demand for skilled foreign workers.
